Last night, the 68th Emmy Awards were presented to television’s best. This year, some of the biggest winners were for programs that were inspired by books. Set up a winner’s circle to display these books that inspired a few of this year’s best television shows.

The FX series American Crime: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson, based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book The Run of His Life, won five major category Emmys including for Outstanding limited series, Actor (limited series or movie), Supporting Actor(limited series or movie), Actress (limited series or movie), and Writing (limited series) for the episode “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia”.

Game of Thrones broke the record for the highest number of Primetime Emmys ever won by a fictional series by running up its total to 38. Last night HBOs hit show won for Outstanding drama series, Director (drama series) for the episode “Battle of the Bastards”, Writing (drama series) for the episode “Battle of the Bastards”.

The Night Manager, based on the novel by John le Carré won for Director (limited series or movie) and Sherlockbased on the character and writings of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, won Outstanding television movie.
